“Strong display of tension, losing Horror emphasis at times…”- (8.5/10).

Why you should read? Love films that retain a sense of mystery throughout? Love films featuring a combination of Horror, Crime, and Drama themes?

Introduction

According to ImDb, The invisible man is a 2020 (Drama/Horror/Mystery) movie.

Impact

Some level of suspense built immediately, with early action-packed scenes, and dark environments. Whilst spooky sound effects were somewhat lacking, deafly silence was frequently used, effectively building tension in the early stages. This silence also increased viewer impressions of character vulnerability, with any kind of sound appearing more dramatic, due to contrast with such silence. This instilled a sense of viewer fear, without requirement for loud sound volumes.

Depictions of evil were initially absent, so couldn’t provide an early impression of evil.

Character vulnerability was well established, through good acting by the main character. Her facial expressions and behaviour I.e. heavy breathing and worried eyes, worked well, alongside other tension-building methods.

The film had some down periods, which lacked the initial action, but these retained viewer anticipation, establishing ideas and expectations which may occur next.

This build up period, present in most Horror movies, took a little too long here, however it was worth the wait. Fear was painted well in times of character vulnerability. Vulnerability not only related to being alone, but also to the time of day. This was instilled in the viewer not due to sound, but perhaps lack of sound, accentuating emphasis on the main characters facial expressions.

Following use of low volume levels for tension building, dramatic changes in volume and visual effects followed at the tension climax, accompanied by the consequences of intense catharsis. Specifically, this was often accompanied by far louder, and more instrumental pieces.

The movie therefore managed to differentiate the antecedents and consequences of tension well, creating a strong display for the viewer.

The pace of the storyline got far more interesting and entertaining, around the 1 hour mark.

The sense of mystery was maintained well by the storyline, with the identity of evil kept hidden for the most-part. The story was clever, since question marks were regularly left, which were clearly highlighted to the viewer, allowing them to consider what they meant for the forthcoming movie stages.

The film cleverly enticed the viewer to take the side of the main character, which allowed the elements of punishment and crime to appear unfair and troubling. This further enhanced the sense of the lead characters vulnerability, which was maintained throughout.

At some moments, violence and action took over from pure Horror, so the film evolved from a Horror into more of a Crime/Drama. Frequent action kept the plot interesting however.

The ending wasn’t the best part of the film, but was thought-provoking.

Summary

Strong display of tension, losing Horror emphasis at times…

Closing statement

Reaseaorg blog is working on its content to enhance viewer experience. Over the previous few years, we have been gaining momentum until recently, and are currently looking at ways to continue to improve user experience of our blog.

We deeply thank all 51 of our followers, especially those who are still reading at this point in this article. Based on WordPress insights, we have learnt that certain types of product reviews are most popular, and our movie reviews are in need of the greatest modification to enhance viewing statistics.

Please feel free to advertise related content in the comments below, but all I ask is that you please be respectful. I have had some comments in the previous few months, which have gone against the spirit of my blog.

That is to be a friendly place for fans of Horror, movies, drinks, and adventures, and particularly those who are interested in writing or reading engaging content.

It is not a place for those who posted links of an explicit nature, reducing visibility of helpful comments, providing insight for my future blog writing.

I thank all of those who have liked my articles, but I won’t ask you to press like on any of my content, unless you do actually like it, as it helps me to gather further accurate information about the types of articles you, the reader, actually would like to see moving forward.

Please comment below with ideas for future content, or any thoughts not covered by the points outlined above.

I will continue to post this statement on articles to come, to ensure optimal visibility for viewers. A big thank you to Neil Patel, for producing a helpful video on search engine optimisation (SEO), to assist my content popularity. I hope it helps anyone else who has content online to get their voice heard, be it through writing or video, or other creative forms of expression online.

Based on insights gained, I have increased my blog content article length, introduced a “food for thought” section to encourage creator-viewer engagement, introduced a “why you should read” tag-line under each article title, added a closing statement which will be used on future articles for the same purpose of updating you on how the blog is progressing, and increased content from my critical eye.
