Introduction:
Joy Ride 3: Road Kill is a 2014 Horror movie, according to IMDb.
Impact:
Shouting and violence were used effectively, to build up some tension. Warnings were provided for impending danger, helping build viewer anticipation. Lighting and emotions however, weren’t well utilised; This reduced feelings of viewer fear. Camera angles and low music tones were used, contrasting well, to more upbeat rock. Contrasting music occurred back to back, switching viewer emotions up. Some examples of attempted tension building, were too drawn out, delaying plot progression.
Vulnerability was emphasised by position of evil, juxtaposed above what could be considered weak. Vulnerability wasn’t shown for long however, limiting climax of suspense. Climax limits were also applied, with rather poor effects following suffering, for example. The use of dolls and props, rather than authentic looking life, demonstrated poor effects, particularly in the latter stages of victim suffering.
The acting also didn’t emphasise authentic emotions, with scenes often set during daytime, precluding any sense of fear from darkness. Acting was often either over or under emphasised. Daylight also prevented a true sense of mystery to be retained, as to the source of evil, in parts.
Sound effects allowed gore to be felt, and some rather abhorrent sounds could be heard at times … They were included well throughout, and a sense of the inevitable was clear at times, further enhancing tension build up.
Summary
“Good sound effects and camerawork, lacking deeper fear factor though”.

I haven’t seen this movie but enjoyed reading the review. It seems like there were some good things about the movie but it wasn’t great.

Thanks for the response and reading. Yeah I mean I wouldn’t recommend really unless you’d seen the other 2 then maybe. You are correct is a borderline one 🙂 Have a great weekend

It’s a movie you can watch without looking at your watch, but it doesn’t produce that “wow” effect.

They really were. It’s not like this one was all bad, but the others captured the feeling of terror more. I will watch this if I’m watching the films, but I couldn’t watch this just for the fun of it. I’m loving your content, so keep it up 🙂

Agreed on this and I am so pleased. If you check out my films tab there will be plenty to keep you busy, summary, score and article wise. They are only my opinions but are scored relative to each other based on that 🙂
