“Orphan” Horror (2009) – My thoughts – “Watch it without expecting too much” (7/10).
With the “Orphan” horror movie totally new to me, I’ve decided to give my thoughts in prose, for it. I have attested my honest opinion, on what is good and bad, without analysing deeply. This post is more “My thoughts”, rather than a full review …
Today I bring you my thoughts on Orphan. This is a Horror/Mystery film.
Orphan – My thoughts (7/10) (2009)
The opening possesses many key horror elements. Your mind is thrown into a whirlwind of adrenaline, with scenes featuring gore and distress. Intrigue is retained by a sequence of unusual occurrences. In the earlier stages this provides another facet to any good horror. Whilst evil isn’t visibly seen frequently, sound effects and emotions help compensate for this well. Evil manifestations would have helped though.
Character personalities give the story life and retain integrity. The mid part of the movie falls a little flat for me as a horror, since tension isn’t built up enough. It seems to wane into more of a Thriller/Action movie. That said, events shown are clearly shocking in nature.
Whilst the ending was tense, the lack of trust kept the movie as fairly good, rather than anything exceptional.
Worth a watch for the horror fan, but a bit long at times. Ending and opening were the best parts.
“Watch it without expecting too much”.
